Collaborative Flashcard Decks: Build and Study Together in Ankra

Ankra Team

One of the most requested features is here. You can now share decks with other people and build them together.

How It Works

Every deck you own has a new Share option. Tap it and choose how you want to share:

Clone Only means others get their own personal copy of your deck. They study it independently and any changes they make stay on their copy. Great for sharing a deck with someone who wants their own version to customize.

Collaborate means everyone works on the same deck together. When someone joins, they can study the deck right away. The deck owner can then promote any member to Editor, giving them permission to add, edit, and delete cards. Every change an Editor makes is instantly visible to all other members. Each person still studies the deck independently with their own spaced repetition progress. You study at your own pace, but the content is a team effort.

Clone or Collaborate lets the other person choose which option they prefer when they join.

Sharing Is Just a Code

To share a deck, generate a share code from the Share screen. It looks something like AB12CD34. Send it to whoever you want to invite, however you like: a text message, a group chat, email, whatever.

The other person opens Ankra, enters the code, and joins or clones the deck. Everyone who joins needs an Ankra account. There is no limit on how many members a deck can have.

Why Collaborative Decks Are Powerful for Studying

When you study with a group, everyone picks up different things. One person highlights the concepts from the lecture slides, another adds questions from the textbook, a third pulls in practice problems from past exams. The result is a deck that is more thorough than any one person could build alone.

This is especially useful for:

  • University courses where your study group wants to pool notes into a shared deck
  • Standardized test prep like the SAT, GRE, or MCAT where covering every topic matters
  • Language learning with a conversation partner who can contribute vocabulary from their side
  • Professional certifications where teammates are preparing for the same exam

Because each person's spaced repetition schedule runs independently, there is no pressure to study at the same time or at the same pace. You all benefit from the shared content while studying on your own terms.

Real-Time Sync

Changes to a collaborative deck sync instantly. If a classmate adds ten new cards at midnight before an exam, they show up in your deck right away. No need to re-share or re-import anything.

Give It a Try

Open any deck you own, tap Share, and send a code to someone you study with. We think once you try building a deck with a friend or study group, you will not want to go back.
